Run to End Polio 2008 - Sunday 28th, December 2008	Laguna Phuket Triathlon - Saturday 6th, December 2008
On Sunday, 28 December 2008 at very early morning hour of 6:00 am, President Anucha Burapachaisri, Ann Sudarat and daughter Tess together with AG Ateeb Maskati represented Rotary Club of Bangkok at the "Run To End Polio 2008". They did not participate in the 10.5 Km run but instead enjoyed 2.5 Km walk around the Lumpini Park. The event was organized by District 3350 to promote Polio Eradication Campaign.	Seriously, PE Uwe has participated in the Laguna Phuket Triathlon for the past five years. It is held every year, the first Saturday in December on Phuket Island. It is among the top ten triathlon events in the world and consists of 1.8 km swim, 1.2 km in the Andaman Sea, then crossing the beach and swimming the remaining 600m through the laguna. The next leg is 55km on the bike, followed by a 12 km run. the event has taken place for more than ten years. Starters are limited to 750 individuals and 50 teams and is normally fully booked by August. Congratulations, PE Uwe! (see more pictures)

Much of the club's philanthropic work both current projects and past projects is accomplished through The Bangkok Rotary Club Foundation (BRCF), a charitable organization we founded in 1990.

Scholarship Presentation and Fellowship visit to Hua Hin (10-11 March, 2007)
Every year at this time of the year our club will organize a visit to Hua Hin.  This visit serves 2 purposes – to present the scholarship money raised to the Rotary Club of Bangkok School in Hua Hin directly to recipients, and to meet up again with our sister club of Rotary Hua Hin and join in fellowship activities with them.  This year the visit will be for the weekend of March 10-11. ......................

New Professional Education Post Tsunami Project:
Christine has received from a Wellness Center in The Netherlands:
The Tides at Overveen (see www.thetides.nl) a request for a project idea.

REACT (Rotary Education For AIDS Affected Children In Thailand) :  Launched in the 1997-1998 Rotary Year, the REACT project was designed to support the work of the Panyapiwat Foundation through the provision of educational grants to children orphaned by AIDS.

Japanese Water Treatment : Japanese Rotary Club of Mitaka sending Triclean for purifying water to be used for schools in needy area.

Dr. Boonliang Tamthai medical scholarship:  Mahidol university has nominated one needy student with interest in helping the community.

Community Projects with other clubs:  under President’s initiatives several projects are initiated managed by other clubs and with our club supporting with donations to promote inter club fellowship and joint activity.
